The Apple iPod is one of the most, if not the most, popular audio player in the world. And the iPod keeps on upgrading, in fact if you have one and you are currently have installed iTunes 8.1 or something more latest, you would notice that there is now a built-in feature that designates the regular mp3 files as audio books so there is no need to download special soft wares and follow tedious uploading processes to listen to audio books on iPod.
However, to get better results, refrain from uploading audio books online that are larger than three hundred twenty MB or anything that has to be played longer than five hours because it may cause stability and playback issues. Now, if it is inevitable that you have to upload something in this category or you already have one in your database, then splitting them up into smaller parts is recommended.
You would notice that most of the iPod or mp3 audio books that you will download are set up in multiple files and it would be helpful for you to combine these segmented files into one single file so you do not have to recall from which file you are listening to at the moment. At the same time doing so would allow the menus on your iPod easier to read and navigate. You can simply let iPod remember your position in the audio book whenever you want to come back to it and you set it up as a personal preference.
However, in order to convert the files, you need to configure iTunes first and set it up properly but do not worry, this should only be done once, not every time you want to upload audio books. For those who use earlier versions of iTunes, you have to click on Edit, and then Preferences, afterwards click Advanced, and then Importing. And make sure to click on “Import Using” and set it to “AAC Encoder”. Afterwards, change Setting to Custom and set it the following options: Optimize for Voice, and for Channels it has to be Stereo and for Bit Rate it has to be 64kbps.
You have to add the files that you want to convert on your library and once they are there, right click on the item and choose “Convert selection to AAC” and once the conversions are all complete, you can now remove the original files from your library since they will not be needed anymore for the process.
